About the weekends

Scottish Music Weekend - Jigs, reels, waltzes, slow airs, marches and of course, strathspeys, old and new from Scotland.

Film and TV Themes Weekend - Famous Film and TV music arranged for the accordion. Please feel free to make suggestions prior to the weekend.

Ceilidh/Concert Weekend (Easier tunes and songs) - We've always had a gigantic band for the November Ceilidh weekend, but playing for a ceilidh is hard work! We need lots of tunes and we need to play them fast! So for this weekend I will select some easier tunes and hope we can attract some singers too, to intersperse the dancing with some concert items. An easier night for the musicians and the dancers. All proceeds from the event will go to charity.

2nd Box (Accordion Accompaniment) Weekend - A wee bit of theory and lots of examples of how to use the accordion to create accompaniments for ensembles, to accompany singers or instrumentalists and how to add that drive to a Scottish Dance Band.

Cajun, Blues and American Weekend - Hopefully we'll get some good weather so we can have a bit of a sing-song round the fire in the garden. We've made this a mixed instruments weekend, so hopefully we'll get some singers, fiddles and guitars etc.

Composition Weekend - A ZOOM only weekend, so that, after a little guidance from me, you can be creative in your own space and hopefully share your creations with everyone throughout the weekend. I will endeavour to notate all the tunes during the weekend on my music software.

Oktoberfest Weekend - Landlers and Polkas etc. from Germany, Austria and Bavaria etc. Beer quaffing is not compulsory, but may enhance the experience.

November Ceilidh and Remembrance Concert Weekend - SO! The November Ceilidh has become so big now that we felt that perhaps we need to somehow, limit the numbers a bit. Therefore, we have offered up two ceilidh weekends, the May one using some easier repertoire and songs, and this one, for the more confident players who can comfortably play the tunes at dance tempo. This year, as well as playing for the ceilidh on the Saturday night, we are also going to do a short, early afternoon Remembrance concert on the Sunday. As ever, all proceeds from the events will go to charity.

Christmas Weekend - Usual festive nonsense with seasonal jumpers, lights and decorations! Plus a few Christmas tunes of course.
